The Ray of Hope Prize® is annually awarded to the world’s top nature-inspired startups that incorporate biomimicry into their design. Biomimicry is a practice that mimics the strategies found in biology. Using nature as a model, mentor, and measurement tool for sustainability, we can create similar solutions to solve human design challenges.

  • The Biomimicry Institute is looking to expand prize opportunities for these game-changing startups. In the 2019 cohort, 10 teams competed for the $100,000 Ray of Hope Prize (sponsored by the Ray C. Anderson Foundation) and the $25,000 Runner-Up Prize (gifted by an anonymous donor). Participants included Watchtower Robotics, Aruga Technologies, and ECOSTP, all of which demonstrated innovative approaches to advancing nature-inspired design.
