Milk & Juice

Waste and spoilage of milk products and fruit pulp currently represents an economic loss of nearly $2 billion and 40,000 metric tons of CO2 emissions in India and Mexico alone. Team Milk & Juice is looking to nature to address waste generated during the postharvest, storage, and distribution management phases of the fruit pulp industry, as well as spoilage due to the lack of infrastructure in the conservation, storage, and transport of milk. Inspired by the nanostructure of cicada wings and sounds generated by caterpillars and queen ants, this innovation seeks to address the social, environmental, and economic impacts of this waste.
